A Geologist for 10 years
Claire completed her B.Sc at Adelaide University and the University of British Columbia and later went on to get a 1st in Honours at Curtin. She commenced work as a geologist for Southern Cross Resources in 2004, developing a database of uranium deposits around the world.
Claire began exploring for uranium and gold with Mindax Limited in 2005, gaining varied field experience and working with CSIRO to identify methods of defining uranium targets through water sampling.
In 2006, she started working as a Project Geologist for Dominion Mining Limited, exploring for gold and base metals in various regions of Western Australia, primarily focusing on the Southwest Yilgarn. All aspects of project management were involved in this position, including:
- Field programme design
- Landholder and government liaison
- Geological supervision of drill programmes
- Surface sampling
- Regolith and outcrop mapping
- Prospect evaluation
- Geophysical surveying
- QAQC regulation
- Result interpretation and target generation.
Moving to Queensland in early 2009, she worked for Cudeco Limited at the Rocklands copper project, predominantly supervising drill rigs and logging diamond core. In October 2009 she commenced work at Terra Search, compiling geological data for the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Minerals.
