From 1995 - 2000 Terra Search carried out a series of database compilation projects for the NSW Government.

Stream Sediment Compilation
Several phases of stream sediment compilation from the GS Report system resulted in the compilation of nearly 278,000 samples.

The breakdown by region is:

  • Lachlan Fold Belt - 196,000
  • New England Orogen – 66,700
  • Broken Hill Block – 15,300

All of these are available in the Terra Search Explorer 3 database.

Drillhole Compilation
Drillhole compilation included projects to collect RAB drillhole data from Broken Hill ( 28,780 RAB holes) and the Cobar regions, (10,750 RAB and Bedrock holes) ; Aircore data ( 6650 drillholes) in the Central West of NSW and location data for percussion and diamond drillholes across the state. This location data was used to provide location data for the Minview system within the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) website.

Data Availability
The data is available in Terra Search’s Explorer 3 Data Management system. It should be noted that the stream and RAB drillhole data collected in NSW is not a complete compilation of all available data, as data collection for each of the successive projects was conducted under tight budgetary constraints and compilation was not done on a rigorous 250K or 100K sheet basis as in other states. The stream sediment data collected represents possibly 70-80% of all the stream data available in GS reports; up to 80% of the Lachlan Fold Belt data, maybe only 60% of the New England data and probably +90% of the Broken Hill Block data.

The data compiled by Terra Search Pty Ltd is the intellectual property of the NSW DPI and as such is available from the NSW government  and can be obtained on CD/DVD from them. Terra Search can also provide this data (at cost) on CD/DVD if it cannot be easily obtained from the government.

Valuable first pass exploration data on a statewide scale. The dataset was compiled by Terra Search Pty Ltd and Tech & Field surveys. Geochemical data was compiled from GS reports dating 1965 - 2000.  The Database currently contains the results of 255 000 stream sediment samples. Data for each sample includes GS Report No., Company name, Tenement data, Location coordinates, Survey sample type, Laboratory method and assay results for all elements tested
