In the period from December 1996 – March 2003, Terra Search Pty Ltd compiled stream sediment and soil data into our Explorer 3 database under a contract with the Victorian Government. Several projects (16 releases) were carried out extending successively on each 250K sheet moving from east to west across the whole state. The data were compiled from hard copy (and later digital) reports filed within the state’s GEDIS file system. All 250K sheets were completed by the year 2000 and resulted in the compilation of 70423 stream sediments and 347036 soil samples. Subsequent smaller compilations of annual relinquishment data were captured between 2000-2003 and a final tally of 382,208 soil samples and 73,218 stream sediments was acheived. Two projects to collect drillhole data were carried out for the Bendigo & St Arnaud 250K sheets and resulted in the compilation of 1430 drillholes on St Arnaud and 6866 drillholes on Bendigo; a total of 8,296 drillholes and their associated assays and surveys.The data is available on CD/DVDs in Geoscientific Data Packages obtainable from the Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI) website. The data compiled by Terra Search Pty Ltd is the intellectual property of the Victorian DPI and is available from the Victorian government. Terra Search can also provide this data or subsets of it on CD/DVD if it cannot be easily obtained from the government. |
