Feedback and what happens to your report

You are one of the first people to use this version of Xplore Shield, so your reports are the point of the beta. Please send them as you go, however small.

How to send a report

  1. On any main screen (Dashboard, Compliance, Registers, Databases, Mine Record Book, MSMS or Settings), choose Feedback in the blue bar at the top. The record screens, such as a staff record, have no blue bar, so go back to the main screen first.

  2. The Send feedback screen opens. Choose the Kind:

    • Bug: something does not work, or shows the wrong thing.

    • Suggestion: something would work better another way.

    • Question: you are not sure how to do something.

  3. Screen is filled in with the screen you came from. Change it if the report is about a different screen.

  4. Write what happened in Description, and what you expected. Say what you pressed or typed, in order, if you can. Do not type a password.

  5. Add a screenshot under Attachments if it helps. Cover or crop out anything that is not part of the problem.

  6. Choose Send. Send stays greyed until you have chosen a kind and written a description. The app says "Thank you: your feedback was sent." Cancel goes back without sending.

The report is saved with your name, the time, the version of the app and the safety profile you were working in, so you do not need to type those. If it cannot be sent, the app says "Sending failed" with the reason: try again, and if it keeps failing, contact Terra Search directly.

Who can read it

Reports go to the Xplore Shield Feedback list. You can read only your own reports. Terra Search's administrators can read all of them.

What happens next

  1. Terra Search reads every report. Reports do not raise an alert, so they are read in batches, not the moment you send one. If something stops you doing your work, contact Terra Search directly as well, using the details in your welcome email.

  2. Reports are analysed together. Terra Search reviews everything sent in: grouping reports about the same thing, checking each against what is already known, and trying to reproduce each bug. The first review comes after the beta's first week, and more follow.

  3. Each report ends in one of four ways:

    • answered, when it was a question;

    • already known, because it matches something on the list of known behaviours or already being fixed;

    • turned into a change to make, which is put in the queue for a later version; or

    • set aside, with a reason, when it is not something the app will do.

  4. Not every report gets a personal reply. If you asked a question you are likely to hear back; for the rest, you will see the effect in a later version.

Help sits beside Feedback

Next to Feedback in the blue bar is Help. On a main screen it opens the page of this help for that screen. On the Feedback screen, and on record screens, there is no Help button: use the help home or the search box on this site.
