Microsoft 365 licence needed for Xplore Shield

Xplore Shield is a Power Apps app. To open it you need a Microsoft 365 licence that includes Power Apps rights. Check this before your first sign-in.

Who needs to check

  • Terra Search staff who sign in with their Terra Search account: the Microsoft 365 licence you already hold covers the app. Nothing to do.

  • Guests, who sign in with their own organisation's account: the licence has to come from somewhere, and it is not always the one Terra Search's invitation gave you. Read on.

What counts

The app needs "Power Apps for Office 365" rights. Most Microsoft 365 business and enterprise plans include them. The licence can come from either of two places:

  1. Your own organisation's Microsoft 365 licence, if it includes Power Apps for Office 365. This costs Terra Search nothing, and it is the first thing to check.

  2. A seat from Terra Search's Microsoft 365 account, when your own organisation's licence does not include those rights. Terra Search decides this with you; do not buy a licence before you ask.

What does not count

The invitation to the Terra Search tenant gives a guest two free plans, "Power Apps Developer" and "Power Automate Free". They are meant for building and trying things in a developer environment. The Xplore Shield beta runs in a test environment that is not a developer environment, so those two plans on their own do not let you open the app.

How to check yours

Ask whoever looks after Microsoft 365 for your organisation (your IT administrator or provider):

Does my Microsoft 365 licence include Power Apps for Office 365 rights?

If the answer is yes, you are ready: go to Quick start. If the answer is no or unsure, tell Terra Search and we will sort out the licence with you.

If the app will not open

If the app refuses to open and the message mentions a licence or a plan, that is this page's problem and not a fault in your sign-in. Send Terra Search a screenshot of the message (never your password) and we will follow it up. Anything else that stops you opening the app, such as a blank screen, is worth a report too: see Feedback and what happens to a report.
